MISSION HIGH QUALITY EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, Early Harvest
The Mission olive trees were the first olives to be established in America, having been brought in from Mexico in 1769 and planted at the Catholic Mission in San Diego, CA, Mission San Diego de Alcala. All the Mission olives grown today in California are derived from that tree at the Franciscan mission in San Diego, California. This variety was said to cover California from one end to the other, but most of the modern Mission olive tree orchards remain in Northern California.
FLAVOR PROFILE:
Our Mission Early Harvest extra virgin is a lovely yellow-green color and has a mild, fruity aroma. Its flavor and consistency are reminiscent of butter, and you may also taste notes of green apple. It has a fresh and slightly bitter finish.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
Use this oil in lieu of butter at your next summer barbecue. Drizzle it over your corn on the cob; use it in dressing for leafy greens, potato salad, or pasta salad; serve it in a shallow dish with herbs and spices as a dip for fresh bread; or brush it on your grilling salmon or chicken breasts and season to taste with any of our herbs and spices. This oil is especially delicious when paired with our Fig, Raspberry, Pomegranate Balsamic or our Green Appel vinegars. This is also a terrific oil to blend with our Porcini Mushroom or White or Black Truffle-infused olive oils.
