If you've had our amazing Rum-Marinated Figs Floating in Chestnut Honey, you're in for a surprise with this other innovative preparation by Santino Mirti of Santa Maria del Cedro in Calabria. The strong flavor of these sweet Calabrian figs is made even richer by the earthy flavor of cooked grape must from the Modena area of northern Italy. The result is the perfect balance between fruity sweetness and rich, earthy flavor.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
There are so many amazing ways to use these delectable figs. Serve them alongside a cheese plate featuring creamy Brie, tangy Gorgonzola, aged Manchego or sharp Pecorino-Romano and walnuts for an exquisite dessert. Slice them up and serve them alongside meats, especially pork, similar to how you would use a chutney; they get even better when you marinate the meat in some of our classic extra virgin olive oil and our Fig Balsamic vinegar.
